What we collect, and why

When you browse this site

These pages use Google Analytics, which sets cookies and records the pages you visit, the site or search that sent you, your approximate location from your IP address, and the kind of device and browser you are using. We use it to see which pages people find useful. You can block it with any browser setting or extension that blocks analytics, and the site works normally without it.

There is no contact form here on purpose. If you call, message or email us, we have whatever you sent, in the app you sent it from.

When you open a quote we sent you

A quote link is private and unguessable, and it is not indexed by search engines. Analytics is deliberately not loaded on those pages, because the address itself is the secret and an analytics tag would report it to a third party.

When you open one, we record:

• that it was opened, and when
• the IP address and browser it was opened from

That is so we can tell whether a quote has reached you before we chase it.

When you approve a quote

Approving is a signature, so the record has to show who agreed to what. We keep:

• the name you type as your signature
• your phone number, and your email if you give one
• the date and time, the IP address and the browser you used
• an exact copy of the quote as it appeared on your screen at that moment

We keep that for as long as we are trading, because it is the record of an agreement. It is never deleted on request while it is the only evidence of a booking, and we would tell you rather than quietly refuse.

What we hold about you as a client

Your name, phone numbers and email addresses, your event dates and venues, and the quotes and photographs prepared for you. Most of that we type in ourselves from talking to you. We keep it after the event because families come back, and having last year’s quote is how we price this year’s fairly.

Photographs

We photograph our own installations for our portfolio and to show future clients. Tell us in writing that you would rather we did not and we will not. Location data is stripped from every photograph when it is uploaded, because many are taken inside clients’ homes and a camera records where it was standing.

Who else can see it

Nobody buys it and nobody rents it. It sits with the companies that run this software for us: our hosting and database providers, our photograph storage, and Google for analytics and for signing us in. Photographs uploaded to the library are sent to Anthropic’s API to suggest a description and tags; that is the photograph and nothing about you.

Call or text 919-324-4044, or email sonal@orchideventsbysonnalkalra.com, and ask what we hold, ask for a copy, or ask us to correct or remove it. We will do it unless it is part of a signed agreement, and we will say so if that is the case.

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything about them.
